Homes for Our Troops Major General Timothy McHale to Address Rising Stars at GNECUS

On April 30, the 2014 Great New England Credit Union Show will kick off with a breakfast to honor twelve Rising Stars from local credit unions who go above and beyond every day to assist their members, co-workers and community.   To inspire them and their family, friends and colleagues who attend the breakfast, Major General (USA, Ret.) Timothy P. McHale will talk about another group of dedicated individuals he knows well:  veterans who have disabilities as a result of their valiant service to our country.

Major General McHale is currently the President/CEO of Homes for Our Troops (HFOT), a national non-profit organization assisting severely injured Veterans who spend all or part of their daily lives confined to a wheelchair. HFOT provides these veterans and their families, at no cost, a high quality barrier free home by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor.  HFOT then coordinates volunteers in the process of building a home that provides maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently for these deserving heroes.

This year’s Great New England Credit Union Show will also offer education throughout the day to inspire all of us to take action on behalf of our members – whether by investing wisely in technology, responding thoughtfully to regulatory proposals or offering timely and important financial counseling.  We are also beginning what we expect will become a new tradition – an end of show, complimentary cocktail reception, sponsored this year by the UBS’ Credit Union Advisory Group.
