Compliance Support

Ensuring regulatory compliance is one of the most time consuming and complicated activities that a credit union has to address.

Association staff regularly assists Rhode Island credit unions in complying with appropriate state and federal laws and regulations governing credit union operations. Government agencies, such as the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation , the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) require daily monitoring for developments, rulings and other changes that will impact credit unions.  Association staff keeps a constant eye on the regulatory environment to ensure that Rhode Island credit unions are made aware in a timely manner of new developments.

An important dues-supported tool that houses the various releases of information and provides summaries of new laws and regulations is InfoSight, our online compliance database available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. InfoSight provides easy reference for credit union personnel at all levels, from the busy CEO to the compliance officer in need of more in-depth information.

Association-affiliated credit unions have access to two regular publications for information relative to compliance.

In addition to monitoring the regulatory environment and providing written compliance materials for credit union personnel to utilize, Association staff is available to member credit unions to assist with compliance and operational questions.  Contact the Association at 1-800-842-1242.
